Topic: Liberty from sin – Part 1
Bible Reading: 1 Peter 2: 9-16
Introduction
Sin is an immoral act considered to be a transgression against the divine law of God. Sin can be described as failure to comply with the divine instructions of the Lord and doing things that displeases Him.
Since most Nations across the globe usually celebrate their independence day which signify the day that they received their Liberty from their colonial masters. Humans need to be liberated from sins so that they will be free.
There is one important step which must be taken before anyone can be liberated, without this step there will be no liberation. The step is that you have to repent and reconcile with your Creator first, then you will be set free from the bondage of sin. Since you cannot continue in sin and expect the grace of the Lord to multiply in your life Romans 6: 1. Therefore, you must repent and turn fully to God before you can receive liberty from sin.
Note that it is inevitable for you to receive liberty from sin, else you are in bondage of sin and you cannot enter the glorious home, says the Bible Revelation 21: 27. For you to rule and reign with your Lord and Savior, you need to be liberated from sin.
You need to be liberated from sin
People need to be liberated from sin and the only way to achieve this is through Jesus Christ our Lord. You must have Christ if you don't want sin to have dominion over you; else you are just deceiving yourself. It is Christ alone who can give you freedom from sins and iniquity. Since mankind are sinners, we need the redeemer to set us free from the bondage of sin.
All have sinned: There is no living soul that is perfect and worthy of the glory of God. It is the grace of the Lord that is saving us because everyone has sinned and fall short of the glory of God, therefore we need freedom from sin Romans 3: 23. Since the Bible affirmed that humans have sinned, you need to be liberated from the bondage of sin. It is for this reason that Jesus Christ said to the people that brought an adulterous woman to Him that “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first”. The people left without throwing a single stone because all of them realized that they are sinners, even though they might not be guilty of adultery John 8: 7.
If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. Anyone who refuses to admit that he/she is a sinner is deluding himself/herself, such a person is leading himself/herself astray and the truth is not in such person 1 John 1: 8. Since you know that you are a sinner, you need freedom from sin. People who know the right thing to do and refuse to do it are sinners. Anyone who know how to do good and fails to do it is a sinner such a person is in bondage James 4: 17. To be set free from the bondage of sin, do the right thing at all times.
Slaves of sin: Whoever commits and practices sin is the slave of sin. People who practice sin habitually are slaves of sin. Jesus said “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin” John 8: 34. Since nobody is immune from sin, then you need our Lord Jesus Christ to liberate you from sin. If you don’t want to be a slave of sin, you have to seek Jesus Christ who can give you freedom from sin.
King David knew the importancy of liberation from sin: King David prayed to God to always uphold him by the liberty/free Spirit because he knew the importancy and necessity of liberation from sin Psalm 51: 12. Once you are liberated from sin, you will be able to mingle with the heavenly beings.
The secrets or events of the past, the present and the future will be revealed
to you. People will marvel at the transformation in your journey, the divine
peace of God will reign in your life and the heavenly kingdom will be your
inheritance when you sleep in the Lord.
All unrighteousness is sin: Every form of unrighteousness is sin before the Lord and this sin will enslave those who do not hearken to the voice of the Lord. All your wrongdoing is sin before your Creator, even if the sin does not lead to death, you will be held accountable. It is written “All unrighteousness is sin, and there is sin not leading to death” 1 John 5: 17. Since those people who seek the precepts of the Lord are the people who will walk in liberty during their lifetime, then it is essential for you to obey and keep to the divine teaching of the Bible Psalm 119: 45. For you to walk in freedom throughout your lifetime, you must be devoted to the commandments of the Lord. Do not learn the way of the gentiles, but be obedient so that you will be liberated from sin.
Ways to receive liberty from sin
Some of the ways mentioned in the Bible to receive liberty from sin shall be discussed.
The Truth: God is the truth that dwells in our hearts and his heavenly Kingdom was established with truth and righteousness. The Bible says “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free” John 8: 32. If you know and speak the truth, you will be free from captivity and bondage of sin. You must know the truth and practice it before you can overcome sin. Do not let the truth depart from your mouth, but be honest in all your dealings. Then you will have liberty from sin.
The law of Spirit gives liberty: It is the law of Spirit of life in Christ Jesus that has the capability to set you free from the law of sin and death. The scripture stated that “for the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death” Romans 8: 2. The power of the life-giving Spirit has freed us through Christ Jesus giving us liberty from the power of sin that leads to death.
The Spirit of the Lord gives liberty: Wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there will be peace, joy and liberty because the Lord is the Spirit. Therefore, abstain totally from sin, since the eye of the Lord is bitter towards sin. Seek Jesus Christ, through whom you can receive the Holy Spirit (the Comforter/Counselor) who will guard and guide you throughout your duration in the land of the living 2 Corinthians 3: 17. There is no other way to receive freedom/liberty from sin except through the Spirit of the Lord.
Liberation through Christ: Jesus Christ alone is the Supreme Being that can give you liberty from sin, therefore if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed John 8: 36. When the Messiah sets you free, you will be able to achieve your goals with ease because He will protect and guide your spiritual steps. If Jesus Christ is living in you, then you will keep yourself so that you will not return into the bondage of sin and the wicked one will neither have power over you nor overcome you 1 John 5: 18. If you are a child of God you will not practice committing sin, but keep away from sins and iniquity. You must not make sin a way of life so that Jesus Christ that dwells in you will be able to hold you securely and Satan will not have the opportunity to lay his hands on you.
Liberated people are new creatures: If anyone is in Christ, joined to Him by faith and liberated from sin, such people are new creatures, reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit. Old things like previous moral and spiritual conditions have passed away. Behold new things have come because spiritual awakening brings a new life 2 Corinthians 5: 17. Be in Christ if you want old things to pass away and new things to manifest. For those of us who are in Christ, we have received liberty from sin, so refrain and abstain from your old characters/behaviours. Let it be visible in your life that your spirit and mind are renewed.

Topic: Liberty from sin – Part 2
Bible Reading: 1 Peter 2: 9-16
We shall continue with the plan of Almighty God for mankind since the fall of humans in the Garden of Eden. Since liberty from sin is an important part of Christ’s mission, God sent his only begotten Son to the world in order to give us second chance so that we can inherit His heavenly Kingdom.
The Mission of Christ
Jesus Christ was sent to the world to perform the following tasks and He successfully achieved them:
· Give repentance to mankind
· Cancellation of sin/debt called remission of sin
· Liberty from sin
· Reconciliation with God
· Save us from curse, law and sin called Redemption.
We will examine every aspect of the mission of our Lord Jesus Christ briefly, but our focus shall be on the Liberty from sin.
Repentance: Human being needs to repent because we have fallen and Jesus Christ alone can give repentance. That was the reason why John the Baptist the forerunner of our Lord Jesus Christ preached repentance saying “Repent for the Kingdom of heaven is at hand” Matthew 3: 1-2. John prepared the way for our Lord Jesus Christ who began to preach repentance after His baptism saying “Repent, for the Kingdom of heaven is at hand” Matthew 4: 17. Because repentance is an integral part of His mission, Jesus sent the twelve disciples out in pairs and gave them power over unclean spirits. He commanded them to go and preach repentance Mark 6: 7-12. Repent today because it is the commandment of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ stated clearly that “I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance” because “those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick”. Therefore “Christ desire mercy and not sacrifice” Luke 5: 32, Mark 2: 17, Matthew 9: 13. One thing we must realize is that there is more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance Luke 15: 7. Therefore, make efforts to be instrumental to the repentance of sinners so that you will be rewarded and there will be joy in the presence of the angels of God over the sinners who repented Luke 15: 10. God in His infinite mercy has overlooked our times of ignorance, but now commands everybody everywhere under the sky to repent Acts 17: 30. If you obey this commandment of the Lord, genuinely repent of your wickedness and pray fervently to God, then you will be forgiven of your evil thoughts Acts 8: 22. Do not delay, show remorse for your sins and have a change of heart. Pray ceaselessly to God and you will be forgiven of the evil intentions of your heart.
Remission of sins: Forgiveness of sins belongs to God and can only be received through Jesus Christ our Lord. It was written that Jesus Christ is the One all the prophets testified about saying that everyone who believes in Him will have their sins forgiven through His name Acts 10: 43. If you want remission of your sins, you must believe in Jesus Christ.
During the naming ceremony of John the Baptist, Zacharias was filled with Holy Spirit, he prophesied that John the Baptist will prepare the ways for the Lord and give knowledge of Salvation to His people, by the remission of their sins Luke 1: 76-77. For people to know that Jesus Christ has the authority to forgive sins, He demonstrated it when a paralytic man was brought to Him. When He saw their faith, He said “Son be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you”. Jesus knew the thoughts of the scribes, “He pronounced that “For people to know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”― then He said to the paralytic “Arise take up your bed and go to your house” Matthew 9: 2-6. Remission of sins can never be received anywhere unless through Jesus Christ.
Because of the Love our Saviour has for us, He used His blood which was shed on the cross as an everlasting covenant with us. The Bible stated that at the table Christ took the cup and gave thanks, the He gave it to the disciples saying “Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant which is shed for many for the remission of sins Matthew 26: 27-28. Therefore, it is your duty according to the directive of the Lord to preach repentance and remission of sins in His name throughout the world starting from your present location Luke 24: 47. Do not disobey His instructions, but harken to His voice.
Reconciliation: Christ came into this world to repair the broken relationship that existed between God and mankind. His purpose is to reconcile us to our Creator.
The Scripture says, for if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son on the Cross, it is much more certain now that we are reconciled that we shall be saved from the consequences of sin and delivered from sin’s dominion through His life because Christ resurrected and lives Romans 5: 10. We must acknowledge that our friendship with God was restored by the death of His Son. It is Jesus Christ that reconciled people who were estranged/alienated from God due to our evil thoughts and wicked actions Colossians 1: 21. Abstain from your evil deeds and thoughts that had alienated you from God in the past. Now God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting or holding against humans our trespasses, but canceling us and committing to us the message of reconciliation
2 Corinthians 5: 19. Since God is no longer counting our sins against us and gave us the wonderful message of reconciliation, let us abide by the terms that reconciled us with God. We must show appreciation to God who brought us back to Himself through Christ and be thankful because He counts us worthy to be among those that He has given this task of reconciling people to Him
2 Corinthians 5: 18. Desert Satan and his works; utilize the gifts that God has bestowed upon you for the ministry of reconciliation judiciously.
The Bible stated that God reconciled everything to Himself through Jesus Christ. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross Colossians 1: 20. Without Jesus Christ and His blood that was shed on the cross it is impossible to reconcile with God, so believe in Christ and plead for His blood. Whoever wants to glory and rejoice, must do so in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation. Rejoice and give glory to God for your new and wonderful relationship with God because Jesus Christ our Lord has made you a friend of God Romans 5: 11. Therefore God is making His appeal through us who are the ambassadors of Christ, we speak for Christ and plead with you, please “come back to God and reconcile with Him”
2 Corinthians 5: 20. You have heard the call so you cannot claim to be ignorant, reconcile with your Creator today because tomorrow might be too late.
Redemption: Jesus Christ alone has the authority to save you; He is the only being that can give you eternal Salvation.
Anna the prophetess bore witness that Jesus Christ was the redeemer of the world. She came into the temple, gave thanks to the Lord and spoke of Jesus Christ to all who looked for redemption in Jerusalem Luke 2: 36-38. We were ransomed through the blood of Christ; in Him we have redemption, deliverance and salvation through His blood. We also have remission of our offenses, shortcomings and trespasses in accordance with the riches and generosity of His gracious favour Ephesians 1: 7. Do not forget that God is rich in kindness and grace that He purchased our freedom with the blood of His Son and forgave our sins. Since redemption belongs to Christ, you can have redemption and forgiveness of sins through His blood only. One can then deduce that Jesus Christ purchased our freedom and forgave our sins Colossians 1: 14.
The Bible testified that Jesus Christ the Lamb of God is the only one that is worthy to take the scroll and open its seals, because He was the One that was slain and sacrificed for our sins. By so doing, He has redeemed us to God by His blood, people of every tribe, language and nation of the world Revelation 5: 9. We pray that the blood of Jesus Christ that ransomed you will not be in vain. Christ redeemed mankind from the curse of law, having become a curse for us (for it is written “cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree”) Galatians 3: 13. Jesus Christ switched places with humans by becoming a curse for us in order to remove the curse of the law placed by Moses on mankind. Moses said “curse is the one who does not confirm all the words of this law by observing them” Deuteronomy 27: 26. Since no human being can affirm and obey all the terms of the instructions/laws of God, then we are all cursed. Jesus Christ was hung on the Cross; He swapped places with us so that we are free while He took upon Himself the curse of our wrongdoing. Therefore, we human beings are being justified freely by the grace of God through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus Romans 3: 24. For this reason Jesus Christ is the Mediator of the new covenant by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance Hebrews 9: 15. Jesus Christ mediates a new covenant between God and humans, so that all who are called can receive the eternal inheritance promised by God because Christ died to set us free from the penalty of the sins we have committed under the first covenant. We pray that you will be among those who will receive the eternal inheritance. Amen.
Week 38: September 17, 2017
Topic: Liberty from sin – Part 3
Bible Reading: 1 Peter 2: 9-16
We shall continue this study with how liberty from sin came through our Lord Jesus Christ. We must realize that our God is neither partial nor bias, so He will reward each one of us for the good things we do, whether we are slaves or free-born Ephesians 6: 8. Therefore, abstain from sin and seek God diligently so that He will give you liberty from sin.
Liberty from sin came through Christ
You need to be delivered: Since liberty from sin comes through Jesus, then every creation need to be delivered from the bondage of corruption and the bondage of sin into the glorious liberty of Jesus Christ and His saints who are the children of God. Everything that has been made in the world need to be set free from the power of destruction and corruption, so that they will be free just like the children of God become free Romans 8: 21. Are you among the creations that anticipate the day when they will join the children of God in glorious freedom form sin, death and decay?
The grace of God: Mankind is prone to sin, and most of us willow in sin which makes us to become slaves of sin. When sin had power over our lives, we are not right with God. Invariably people were slaves of sins, but they were free in regard to righteousness of God Romans 6: 20. The righteousness of God that set us free came from the grace received through Jesus Christ our Lord. For this reason, sin will not have dominion over us because we are not under the law, but under grace Romans 6: 14.
As previously mentioned, it is Jesus Christ alone that can give you liberty from sin and the Bible affirmed this by saying that “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him and does His will, shall not perish but have liberty from sin and eternal life” John 3: 16. Brethren, do not miss this opportunity to be liberated from sin.
Prophecy of Isaiah: Part of the mission of Jesus Christ is to give us liberty from sin after we must have repented of our sins. The prophesy about Him testified to this by saying that “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim Liberty from sin to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound” Isaiah 61: 1. The summary of His mission on earth is to preach Good News (The Gospel) to people so that they will repent and receive remission of sins. Christ came to heal the brokenhearted and proclaim liberty from sin to the spiritual captives, so that the spiritual prisoners will be released/freed from bondage and have redemption/eternal salvation. Embrace Christ and His values today so that His coming into this world will not be in vain.
Testimony of an Angel: After Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be pregnant with Child of the Holy Spirit. Joseph intended to break up secretly with her, but an angel appeared to him in a dream saying “Joseph don’t be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. She will bring forth a Son and you shall call His name Jesus for He will save His people from their sins” Matthew 1: 18-21. If you don’t believe human like yourself, I hope the testimony of the angel will convince you that it is only Jesus Christ that can give you liberty from sin and redemption.
Confirmation by Christ: When Jesus came to Nazareth, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath and stood up to read. He was handed the book of prophet Isaiah and when He opened the book, He found the place where it was written “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me, to preach the Gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord”. Then He closed the book and declared that He is the fulfillment of the scripture Luke 4: 16-21. What else do you need after the confirmation of your Lord and Saviour?
Paul’s statement: Paul apostle, who had been liberated from sin, emulated our Lord Jesus Christ by humbling himself to set other people free from the bondage of sin. Paul said, “Though I am free from men but I have made myself a servant to all that I might win more” 1 Corinthians 9: 19. I have a story to tell concerning the interpretation of this passage because it is leading lots of believers astray.
I was invited to a church on Sunday, in the midst of the service; some young men with plaited hair were called to the altar. Then they started to sing rap music. Immediately I went out of the church and prayed to God that I am not part of the people who conspired to defile His holy altar. Therefore, I should not be punished with the congregation.
Few days later, one of the elders of the church came to visit me. When I mentioned the incident, he made reference to this particular passage in the Bible. Then I enlightened and interpreted the passage for Him. The passage means you have to humbly yourself in order to win souls for Christ. Those people who knew the truth and have received liberty from sin must humble themselves so that they can win the unbelievers for Christ. It is unacceptable for people to come and defile the holy altar of the Lord by their actions and utterances because we want to win their souls. It is better to take the Gospel to the unbeliever wherever they are in order to win their souls rather than inviting them to come and pollute the holy altar of the Lord.
Never misuse your liberty for sin
People must keep their bodies holy because the eye of the Lord is bitter towards sin. So do not misuse your liberty from sin by polluting your body or get involve in any misconduct.
Keep your body holy/sanctify: Christians do not let sin control the way you live and do not give in to sinful desires. Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead give yourself completely to God because you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God Roman 6: 12-13. Liberated people must be cautious so that sin will not have power over their mortal bodies again in order to make them to yield to its cravings, be subjected to its lusts and evil passions. Beware; do not surrender any part of your body as tool of wickedness which can lead to death instead use the anatomy of your body to glorify God.
You don’t own your life: Believers must realize that we don’t own our lives because we have been bought at a price. Jesus Christ paid the price/debt on the cross. Therefore, let us glorify God in our bodies and spirits by abstaining from sin 1 Corinthians 6: 20. Do not let the blood shed by Jesus Christ on the cross be in vain. Purify your body and glorify God in your spirit so that your liberty from sin will not be withdrawn.
Never cause other people to stray: We must beware so that our liberty will not become a hindrance to the weak people, in manners that will cause them to stumble or give them an impulse to sin 1 Corinthians 8: 9. Do not misuse your liberty from sin, be careful with this freedom of yours, do not cause brothers and sisters with lesser faith to stumble through your actions and reactions.
You have been called: The Bible testified that we have been called to liberty by Jesus Christ our Lord, therefore, do not use the liberty as an opportunity for fleshy activities, but through love, let us serve one another Galatians 5: 13. We have been called to live in freedom and the freedom is defined. It is not freedom to satisfy our lusts or to flirt. It is not to enrich our pockets or satisfy our sinful nature, but to serve one another in sincere love.
An example is if you are invited by an unbeliever; eat whatever that is given to you (after blessing and sanctifying it) without asking questions. But if someone informed you that what you are about to consume has been offered to idols, then you must not eat it because of conscience sake. Not your own conscience, but that of the other person, for your liberty has been restricted because of the other person’s conscience 1 Corinthians 10: 27-29. If you have been warned that the meal has been offered to an idol, do not eat it out of consideration for the conscience of the person who told you so that you will not use your liberty from sin to lead him/her astray.
Liberty is not an excuse to commit vices: Liberated people must not use their liberty as cloak for vices, but as bondservants of God 1 Peter 2: 16. Never use your freedom as an excuse to do evil or commit sin, but use it to promote and edify the church of God as good servants of God.
Week 39: September 24, 2017
Topic: Liberty from sin – Part 4
Bible Reading: 1 Peter 2: 9-16
We shall continue by discussing the perils associated with refusal to be liberated from sin.
Beware Of Peril
Anyone that remains in the bondage of sin is risking his/her existence and the life of such people is in great danger because their lives can be terminated without notice.
Beware of agents of Satan: In every church, and establishment there will be people like Judas. It is for this reason that the Bible stated that among My people are wicked men who lie in wait for victims like a hunter hiding in a blind and they continually set traps to catch people Jeremiah 5: 26. Beware of people like Judas in your midst who can ensnare you and return you into the bondage of sin. Remember that Jesus Christ said “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father’” Matthew 7: 21. There are some brethren that behave like believers whereas they are agents of Satan. Their mission is to spy out the liberty which we have in Jesus Christ and find the means of bringing us into bondage Galatians 2: 4. Many so called Christians are wolves in sheep clothing; they came into the churches to spy on us to see our freedom in Christ Jesus. Such people always like to change the doctrines to suit their purpose and twist the word of God because of their ulterior motives.
In most cases they will promise brothers and sisters liberty, but they themselves are slaves of corruption, since it is by whom a person is overcome that will bring such a person into bondage 2 Peter 2: 19. Beware because they will promise you heaven and earth plus liberty, but they themselves are slaves to sin and corruption. If you listen to them or follow their steps, you will be put back into slavery/bondage which will adversely affect your life.
Remain/Stay focused: The Bible stated that we have been set free from sin and we have became the slaves of righteousness in conformity with God’s will and purpose Romans 6: 18. Now that we are set free from slavery to sin and we have become slaves to righteous living, we must be careful not to return into bondage. Since we have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, we have our benefits which result in sanctification and being made holy. We are set apart for God’s purpose and the outcome is eternal life Romans 6: 22. Never let go your liberation from sin. Remember to do away with whatever that can lead you back to sinful life according to the directive of Jesus Christ that “if your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell” Matthew 5: 29-30; 18: 8-9. Never allow the worldly pleasures to make you to lose your liberty and return you into bondage.
Exhibit Christianity virtues: Brethren speak and act consistently throughout your lifetime as people who are going to be judged by the law of liberty which is moral law that frees obedient Christians from the bondage of sin James 2: 12. Whenever you speak or whatever you do, remember that you will be judged by the law that sets you free, so behave accordingly.
Benefits/Rewards of Liberty from Sin
There are several benefits of liberty from sin mention in the Bible and some of them will be discussed.
Choose life: Choose life and not death because whoever that is liberated from sin shall not die, but have eternal life. Since the wages of sin is death, if you are given liberty from sin, then you shall receive the gift of God which is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord Romans 6: 23. If you want eternal life so as to reign with your Savior forever, seek liberty from sin.
Equality and equity before God: Since our God is neither bias nor partial so every believer who has been redeemed from sin is equal before the Lord there is no distinction in regard to salvation in the presence of God. There is neither Jew nor Greek/American, there is neither slave nor free-born, there is neither male nor female because all of us are one in Christ Jesus Galatians 3: 28. Inasmuch as we are liberated from sin, we are all one in Jesus Christ and equal before God. It is for this reason that the scripture says “God will bless those who fear the Lord both small and great Psalm 115: 13. If you are liberated and fear the Lord, you will be blessed.
Peace of mind: God wants you to have peace of mind that was the reason he offered you liberty from sin. I want us to know that every commandment of God is made for us to live a peaceful life and have rest of mind. The Bible says “If you sin, what do you accomplish against Him? Or if your transgressions are multiplied, what do you do to Him? If you are righteous, what do you give Him? Or what does He receive from your hand? Your wickedness affects a man such as you, and your righteousness a son of man” Job 35: 6-9. If you abstain from sin, do not think that you are doing God a favour because it is you who will be rewarded.
You will be blessed: It is written “Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord shall not impute sin” Romans 4: 7-8, Psalm 32: 1-2. You are blessed because the Lord has cleared your record of sin. He did not reckon your sins against you but liberated you from sin.
Anyone who looks carefully into the perfect law of liberty, and faithfully abides by it by not becoming a careless listener who forgets, but an active doer who obeys, such a person will be blessed and favoured by God in every department of his/her life because of his/her obedience James 1: 25. If you look at the law that sets you free and you do what it says then God will bless you. Behold, thus shall the man be blessed who fears the Lord and he/she is liberated from sin Psalm 128: 4.
Favour will surround you: It is written “For you O’ Lord will bless the righteous, with favour you will surround him as with a shield” Psalm 5: 12. If you abstain from sin, God will surround you with favour and love.
Finally, if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our debts/sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1: 9. God will also bless us and all the ends of the earth shall fear Him Psalm 67: 7.
The Seal: Job 22: 23: If you return to the Almighty God, you will be built up if and only if you remove iniquity far from your tents.
