Week 40:
Topic: Impatience – Part 1
Bible
Introduction
Impatient people are those who are restless because of their desire or expectation. They are people who are eagerly desirous or short of temper especially under irritation. Impatience can also be described as the inability to endure delays.
In a nutshell impatient people are those who are unable to wait patiently or tolerate delay. They are restless people who are unable to endure irritation or opposition.
Impatience is a plague that is plaguing the whole Christendom. It is one of the ways that the Devil is using to lead people astray and put them in spiritual bondage. The Serpent of the Old was using this strategy to confuse people that they cannot realize their dreams/visions quickly with God, but with him they will be realized immediately.
Impatience has made many people to join satanic fraternity and ritualistic sects because they cannot wait on the Lord to realize their goals. These groups of people have mortgaged their souls because of their impatience. Many people have become robbers and criminals because of their inability to endure delays or wait for their time.
Impatience has made several people to provoke/grief the Holy Spirit and also turn their back on their Creator. Impatience has made most people to fall into sin, thereby making them unworthy of the glory of God. The promise of God has been cancelled in several people’s lives due to their impatience, and their admittance into the Glorious Home has been revoked.
Beware do not fall for this trick called impatience so that you will not be among the victims of Satan and his agents. The promise/vision of God will come to pass in your life if you remain upright and faithful. Though, the fulfillment process may be slow, but you need to wait patiently because it will surely materialize without delay Habakkuk 2: 3. Whether the darkness and the principalities likes it or not, if you are not impatient or fall into sin, the promises of God will be fulfilled in your life without delay.
Whatever that you are passing through presently, please be patient with God to resolve your situation. Do not be a novice like the king of Israel who stated that “surely this calamity is from the Lord, why should I wait for the Lord any longer?” when the king sent a messenger to go and kill Elisha at the time the Syrians besieged Samaria 2 Kings 6: 33. Never utter such statement, but wait for God to accomplish and perfect His work in your life.
Commitment of the Lord
The Lord is committed to all His creations most especially we humans that He loved so much to the extent that we were created in His image and He gave us dominion over other creations on earth.
Provision for our needs: The Bible stated that “the eyes of all look expectantly to You, and You give them their food in due season. You open Your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing” Psalm 145: 15-16. God will provide for your needs if and only if you wait patiently for Him. It is for this reason that Jesus explained the parable of sower that “the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience” Luke 8: 15. Do not be impatient because if you hear the word of God with a pure heart and act accordingly, it cannot produce fruit unless you are patient.
God has patience for mankind: Most people are in difficult situations and various bondages due to their stubbornness and impatience. God so much loved us that He had patience with us, He reproved and warned us consistently by His Spirit through His prophets; but we refuse to listen, therefore forces of darkness dominated us Nehemiah 9: 30. If you don’t want your enemies to conquer and overcome you, do not be impatient but hold on to your faith in the Lord.
Jesus Christ patiently endured: It was part of the commitment of God that made His only begotten Son Jesus Christ to patiently endured persecution/tribulation and He obtained the promise Hebrews 6: 15. Emulate Jesus Christ today by patiently enduring your temptations and persecutions. Do not be impatient so that you will receive the promise of God.
Reciprocate the patience of God: Do not be impatient, but always reciprocate the patience of God. Jesus Christ told the parable of the unforgiving servant so that we can learn from it. There was a servant that owed the king his master ten thousand talents. The master commanded that he must be sold, together with his wife and children including his earthly possessions to settle the debt. He begged the King saying “Master be patient with me and I will pay you all”. The master was moved with compassion, so he released him and cancelled/forgave the debt. The servant went out and found another servant who owed him hundred denarii; he laid his hand on him and demanded for his money. The servant pleaded with him saying “Have patience with me and I will pay you all” instead he threw him in prison. Other servants that witnessed the incident reported to the king who delivered him to people who will tortured and tormented him until he paid his debt Matthew 18: 23: 34. Be patient with others, do not be impatient to condemn or pass judgment on other people.
Patience is a necessity to your faith
Patience is a necessity for every Christian in order to receive goodness from God. Impatient people can never please the Lord or do His will, therefore be patient in whatever you do during your lifetime.
The Bible was written for our well being: The Holy Bible was written for our spiritual growth and well being. Everything in the Bible was written for our learning, teaching and reproof so that through the patience and comfort of the scriptures we will have hope Romans 15: 4. It is the Scriptures that give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled in our lives, but if you are impatient you will miss the goodies. Indirectly, it means the promises of God might not be fulfilled in the lives of the impatient people.
By your patience possess your souls: Impatient people can never gain their lives; it is only the patient people that will win their lives. This is the testimony of our Lord Jesus Christ that the believers who have patience and strong faith will survive the perils of the end-time and they will receive eternal lives Luke 21: 19. Only patience and strong faith can save your life and give you eternal life.
The
experience of Apostle John: Apostle John saw the heavenly vision due to
his endurance and patience of Jesus Christ when he was on the
Prayers during dire situations
There are several prayers in the Bible which can be offered that will prompt the Lord to act quickly on your behalf because of your patience. However the impatient people may not be granted this opportunity.
You can pray that “O Lord, You know; Remember me and visit me, and take vengeance for me on my persecutors. In Your enduring patience, do not take me away. Know that for Your sake I have suffered rebuke” Jeremiah 15: 15.
Pray, to the Lord to direct your heart into the love of God and into the patience of Christ, so that you will not ruin your spiritual journey through impatience
2 Thessalonians 3: 5.
